EMPOWERING FUTURES: 100 STEP SCHOLARS RECEIVE STARTER TOOLKITS IN MANDALUYONG
On March 15, 2024, a momentous event unfolded at Kaban ng Hiyas, Maysilo Circle, Mandaluyong City as 100 scholars of the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP), spearheaded by Congressman Neptali “Boyet” Gonzales and trained at the GIST Mandaluyong Campus, gathered with grateful hearts and joyful souls for the much-anticipated “Releasing of Toolkits” ceremony.
Amidst an atmosphere charged with anticipation, the ceremony marked the distribution of essential starter toolkits, a significant stride towards the scholars’ journey of empowerment and self-sufficiency. The occasion saw the provision of 50 units of Electric Oven and Electric Mixer for Bread and Pastry Production NC II scholars, alongside 50 pieces of Food Processor, Butane Gas Stove, and Wok for Cookery NC II scholars. These toolkits serve as the cornerstone for the scholars’ entrepreneurial ventures, aligning seamlessly with the overarching objectives of Congressman Neptali “Boyet” Gonzales’ visionary program.
Commencing at 10:30 am, the event began with an opening message from the scholarship focal of the Office of Congressman, Ms. Lee Chan, setting the tone for a day of celebration and gratitude. Following suit, Mr. Jose O. Montenegro, the esteemed President of GIST, delivered a message resonating with appreciation, emphasizing the transformative impact of the program on the scholars’ lives. The presence of PAMAMARISAN District Director, Dir. Maria Gerty D. Pagaran, added to the significance of the occasion, as she extended heartfelt commendations to the scholars and recognition to TVI partners like GIST, underscoring the collaborative efforts that fuel the program’s success.
However, it was the poignant words of Hon. Queenie Gonzales, the cherished wife and former Congresswoman, which truly encapsulated the essence of the day. Her message, brimming with sincerity and encouragement, underscored the pivotal role of the program in enhancing the livelihoods of Mandaluyong City’s constituents, reinforcing the unwavering commitment of the Gonzales family towards community development.
