As one of the most prominent and most trusted TVET schools in Antipolo, Gateways Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) is proud to once again represent Region 4 in the 2023 CALABARZON Regional Skills Competition, which was held on December 18-20, 2023. The opening ceremonies was held at the Juanito B. Manigbas Gymnasium while the competition proper took place at St. Anne College Lucena, Inc. in the province of Quezon.
Proudly representing Rizal Province are GIST’s pride, Bryan M. Boter and Prince Jerick B. Dula, who both showcased why GIST has been TESDA’s trusted representative since 2009. They made both GIST and Rizal Province proud by winning well-deserved and hard-earned medals in their respective fields.
Bryan M. Boter was the Bronze Medalist for the Cooking Competition, while Prince Merick M. Dula was the Silver Medalist for the Restaurant Services Competition.
Assisting them were GIST’s skilled students as well: Ethan Anthony Sanchez for Cooking, and Jorens Tagala for Restaurant Service.
These achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the true strength and pride of GIST, the school’s competent, talented, and hardworking coaches who demonstrated that they are truly award-winning experts: Cooking Coach Remegilda R. Esteron and Restaurant Service Coach Jerome M. Redubla.
The Skills Competition by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority or TESDA is an annual competition wherein different TVET schools from all over the country compete and demonstrate their students’ competencies in specific vocational skills using task and industry-based scenarios. This showcase of skills proves how TVET education is indomitable and irreplaceable when it comes to providing for the industry workforce, and inspires young individuals to transform their talent and skills from passion into profession.
And GIST has always been proud of proving that, consistently, year after year. With the continuous support of GIST’s President and School Director, Jose O. Montenegro; GIST Antipolo Branch Head, Mrs. Leticia G. Bañes; and the entire GIST support team consisting of the management, faculty, staff, and students, GIST will continue to prove why they will always be the pride of TESDA, and most importantly, the pride of Rizal.
Congratulations to GIST for the double win!
