GIST Shines Bright at DepEd Antipolo City’s Unit Meet 2023
In a dazzling display of athleticism and sportsmanship, the recent Unit Meet organized by DepEd Antipolo City brought together 15 schools on October 13, 2023. The event showcased the talents of approximately 150 students across diverse disciplines, turning Bagong Nayon 2 Elementary School, DAZSMA, SM Cherry, and Antipolo National High School into vibrant arenas of competition.
The opening program, a grand spectacle in itself, unfolded at Bagong Nayon 2 Elementary School, setting the stage for an exhilarating day of competition. GIST, a standout among the participating schools, left an indelible mark with an impressive medal haul.
Basketball Brilliance at DAZSMA: Double Gold for GIST
GIST’s basketball prowess took center stage at DAZSMA, where both the girls and boys teams clinched the gold medal in the fiercely contested 3×3 category. The court became a battleground where GIST’s teamwork and skill soared above the rest, earning them the top spot on the podium.

The strategic battlefield of chess saw GIST’s Kristine Mae Bolaños (ICT 11-7) and Exekiel Matthew Consejo (ABM 11-3) emerge victorious at DAZSMA, bagging the gold medals and proving their intellectual prowess alongside their physical achievements.
Taekwondo Triumphs at Antipolo National High School
Antipolo National High School witnessed GIST’s taekwondo team clinching 2 medals -gold for Joshua Cabiles (HUMSS 11-4) and silver for Jhomarie Orido (ICT 11-2)
showcasing their agility, discipline, and martial arts prowess.
In every discipline, GIST students exhibited not just excellence but also a spirit of sportsmanship that resonated throughout the Unit Meet. As the sun set on October 13, 2023, GIST stood tall among the participants, a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics.
Coach Randel Villamor of GIST Men’s Volleyball reflects positively on the unit meet experience, considering it a valuable opportunity for students to showcase their talent despite the brief preparation.
