Maximizing Opportunities: GIST’s Participation To The Success of BAA 2nd College Fair

The 2nd BAA College Fair, held on October 14, 2023 from 10am to 9pm with a theme: “Be Academically Aware: A Scholastic Guide to Shape Our Future”, was a vibrant and engaging event that brought together students, faculty, and institutions from various colleges and universities in Metro Manila. One of the 36 participating colleges, universities and institutions was our very own Gateways Institute of Science and Technology- Mandaluyong Branch, which added to the event’s success.

The fair was held at SM Megamall Event Center, Mandaluyong City, providing a convenient meeting point for students and academic communities. The event was organized and spearheaded by Councilor Benjie Abalos which aimed to help Grade 12 and high school graduates decide on what colleges or universities and even TVET institutions they want to enroll in and the respective programs that they wish to take up in college, and it certainly achieved its goals.

Gateways Institute of Science and Technology made a significant impact at the fair. We showcased a range of innovative programs, competitive school fees, and a vibrant student community. Invited Senior High School students from public and private schools around Mandaluyong and Makati were drawn to the GIST’s booth, where they have learned about the program offerings and engaged in discussions with faculty and students while enjoying the thrilling games.

The fair started by ribbon-cutting ceremony participated by Mandaluyong Vice Mayor, Hon. Menchie Abalos; 2nd District City Councilor, Hon. Benjie Abalos; 4P’s Partylist Representative, Cong. JC Abalos; DepEd Mandaluyong Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Aurelio G. Alfonso, CESO IV; and AVP of SM Megamall, Mr. Christian Mathay. After a short program the event also featured a variety of activities and entertainment, including performances, exhibitions, and school presentations. This helped create a festive atmosphere and allowed attendees to enjoy more than just academic interactions.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the event was the opportunity for students to explore their future academic endeavors. Representatives from Gateways Institute of Science and Technology, as well as other colleges and universities, offered guidance on admissions, scholarships, and career prospects, which was invaluable to prospective students.

The College Fair demonstrated the importance of higher education and TVET with the diversity of opportunities available to students in the region. It was a well-organized and successful event that allowed institutions like Gateways Institute of Science and Technology to showcase their contributions to the academic community and connect with potential students and partners. The fair served as a testament to the thriving educational landscape in Mandaluyong and the commitment to nurturing the future leaders and innovators.
